Was not meant to be. Race organizers met at 0630, postponed start until 0900, then to 1200. I left during a short break in the weather. With the assistance of a 4wd Case backhoe…
I sort of assume the race was canceled. These things do happen, no big deal and I expect I will return next year. Spring racing is always a roll of the dice.
I got to the race about 1430 on Friday and got set up, there was a chance of showers and it was kinda cloudy. Pretty windy. Got woke up in the night by wind and pounding rain, not a good sign… The wind died, and the rain sound started to fade…
So, it turned into a camping trip. I doubt you could have even walked the trail yesterday, the clay out there is astonishing.
This is the hill I had to be dragged up by the backhoe. Apparently the minivan was only short one horsepower to make it.

It definitely looks better IN the van rather than OUTSIDE the van.
Well I’m glad I didn’t put in the effort to go. Our NM weather has SUCKED or perhaps I should say BLOWN too much lately. I’m tired of it Uhg!
Wow. Although I know that was disappointing, what an excellent story and pics. I love the rain to snow allusion of “the sound started to fade.”
Well thank you! It was a bummer, but not a high priority race for me so not that big of a deal.
