Most recent first: Vanessa was 4th overall women in the Fiesta de Albuquerque half marathon today. Ran a 1:34, a great result for a training race with no taper and a high volume week. Didn’t help that the start was 30min delayed and it was about 35deg this AM… I got down there on the RB around 9:30 or so, got to see her and Molly the finish, I didn’t know it had been delayed 30min, if so I could have got down there for the finish. Watch out Vermont Marathon. I continued and did ~ 80mi on the RB.
Last weekend was Dawn Til Dusk 12hr mountain bike race. This is New Mexico’s premeir mountian bike event, and, probably second only to Tour of Gila in NM cycling events all year. A well run event, on quality singletrack. A 12.5mi loop with roughly 1700′ of vertical each loop. I had an OK day, bagging 8 loops in the geared solo division, good enough for 104mi with around 14,000′ of gain and 13th of 50 overall. Geared winners were 10 laps. Matt rocked the SS, w/ the win and 9 laps total. Jens and Travis did 2 man team and got 10 laps, Rich and Gavin got 9. Karen of Jens and Karen was exceedingly kind and helped me out all day managing my bottles and sandwiches, and coca cola. That’s quite a bit of work for 12hrs, and made my day considerably easier.

And, if you are a cat who’s fun-button gets tripped by all things stinky, a jersey used for 12hrs of racing is just fine.
